RKD starts with digitisation visual documentation

To make the collections of the RKD immediately accessible, globally, and at any time of day, we begin in June 2018 the digitisation of one of our core collections: approximately 1.5 million objects.

The material in the green boxes will be digitised in batches. Batches will be unavailable for 2 to 3 months. After a period of up to 3 months the scanned content can be consulted digitally by means of a temporary online app. The green boxes will not be returned to the shelves in the Study Room.

Starting in June the digitisation process will be carried out in the following order:

  • Old Netherlandish Drawing
  • Old Netherlandish Painting
  • Nineteenth-century Dutch and Belgian Art
  • Applied Art
