Curriculum vitae and activities

Rianne Piening has been Application Manager for the RKD – Netherlands Institute for Art History since 2020. After graduating in art history from Utrecht University, specialising in both Fifteenth- and Sixteenth-century Dutch Art and the Digital Humanities, she joined the RKD, where she looks after, maintains and develops user applications. This includes functional management of the databases as well as developing the RKD’s own digital products such as Explore, Studies, Bulletin, Artists4All and The Rembrandt Database.

As Application Manager Piening chairs the internal Change Advisory Board and she is in charge of the Second Line Helpdesk. She is also involved in automated large-scale digital operations involving clearing, importing or exporting data, for example when archives are entered into the system or maintenance of Linked Data that are accessible through different channels within the RKD.
