Nineteenth-century Dutch and Belgian Art

This subcollection contains more than 470,000 photographs and reproductions of paintings, drawings, and sculptures by artists born between 1775 and 1875. The collection is categorised by artist and then by subject matter such as portrait, genre, landscape, and seascape. The images are indexed in the Artists database and can be consulted in the RKD study room. A section of the images can be consulted digitally in Images.

The curators of the nineteenth-century works collection work primarily on a project basis on various subjects. The results of their research are published in Explore and often lead to publication and exhibition in collaboration with a museum.
