RKD Netherland Institute for art History
Historical Interiors An important part of the Historical Topography Images collection is the Historical Interiors section, partly set up by em. Prof. Willemijn Fock, Ph.D. The donation contains photographic documentation of the so-called Rapenburg project, in which the main focus is on the houses situated on Leiden’s most prominent canal. Another part is formed by the photographic documentation of the Royal Dam Palace, which was donated to the RKD by the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). There are many other interior photographs in the collection, such as overview photos of interiors taken between 2001 and 2007 for the project Inventory Decorative Interior Paintings in the Netherlands (1600-1940). The section is an important source for research in the field of historical interiors in the Netherlands and for anyone interested in the Dutch interior or who is searching for an image of a specific interior.
