    first mentioned in Rome in 1635 in connection with a lawsuit (about the testament of Steven van 't Hoff), but possibly already before (1633?) in Rome (Hoogewerff 1952/De Bruyn 1952). He first shared a studio Jan van Causteren, a painter from Utrecht; From 1639 till 1641 Jan and Andries lived together in Strada Vittoria (Hoogewerff 1942, p. 108, 110), but they did not leave Rome at the same time.
