    An official Polish document from 1676 states that van Gameren, in his youth, received further training in the fields of literature, military studies and geometry and traveled to Germany, Italy and other countries.

    Van Gameren was summoned to Poland in 1660 by the hetman Jerzy Sebastian Lubomirski (1616-1667), most likely through the mediation of his son Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski (1641-1702), in Italy 1661-1662; got militairily involved in the rebellion against king Jan Kazimierz (1648-1668); G's clients in Poland included the kings Michał Korybut Wiśniowiecki (1668-1673), who appointed him his court architect for civil and military buildings in 1672, Jan III Sobieski (1674-1699), who nobilized G. 1685 according to a decision by the Sejm, as well as the Queen Maria Kazimiera, as well as lower nobles and the University.
