According to Van Lerius 1881, there is an etching by his hand, representing the Scheldt frozen in 1621. The same author mentions a drawn view on Antwerp seen from the so-called 'Vlaamse Hoofd'.

In 1630 he maintained a relationship out of wedlock with Susanna April, with whom he had two illegitimate daughters, Susanna and Annemarie (1630-1632). On 3 October 1633 he married Elisabeth Boots in St. Jacobs Church; on 11 February 1634 their son Jan-Baptist was baptized in this St. Jacobs Church.
