son of Hans van Avont (born 1571) and Anna le Febure. He married on August 22, 1622 to Catharina van Hertsen (died September 3, 1643) in the Cathedral, although they lived in the parish of St. Jacob's Church. Their seven children were also baptized there. Their fifth, Pieter, was held over the font by Melchior Teniers and Susanna Cognet (daughter of Andries Ruckers?). Van Avont was in turn the godfather of Agnes Teniers, daughter of Melchior Teniers and Anna van Oosten. On February 7, 1644, Van Avont married again in St. Jacob's Church, now with (the minor) Catharina 't Kint. They had five children. Frans Wouters is among the godparents. On September 24, 1648, Catharina 't Kint was the godmother of Marie-Anne Hollar, the daughter of Wenzel Hollar and Margaretha Straci (Van Lerius 1880-1881)
