tot 1860 musicus; received permission to use the title ‘purveyor to Princess Louise van Oranje Nassau’ (Queen of Sweden and Norway) in August 1867 (source: Dagblad van Zuidholland en ´s Gravenhage 17-8-1867); used the title ‘purveyor to the King of Sweden and Norway' probably from 1870-1872 (latest carte-de-visite without this title is dated 28-6-2870, artwork no. 153880) and used the title ‘purveyor to Prince Frederik’ from 1874 or 1875: see dated cartes-de-visite in the Portrait Iconography collection. Dated works without this title can be found till 9-6-1874 (artwork no. 150744), with this title dating from 25-9-1875 (artwork no. 164078)
