    trained by his father and after his father's death in 1653, by his uncle, Jan Baptist Weenix; became a member of the 'Confrerie Pictura' and its head in October 1654 (Saur 2012)

    As of August 1658 he lived and worked in The Hague, in October 1659 he became a member of the guild. In 1662 he became chief of the painters fraternity (Confrerie Pictura) (Thieme/Becker 1924).
  • Amsterdam 1663 - 1695
    Before September 1664 he moved to Amsterdam, where he stayed for the rest of his life. Although he was taxed for 2400 Guilders in 1674, which points to a highly succesful business, he was somewhat in dire straits at the time of his death (Saur 2012); in 1668 he bought the citizenship (Thieme/Becker 1924).
