    He had his glazier's shop in Kalverstraat (he was the official city glazier). His first success as a poet came with his tragedy 'Aran en Titus' (1641). He wrote countless occasional poems for the city's elite and made the 'tableaux vivants' commissioned by the city for festivities. From 1647 onwards he was one of the director's of the theatre.
