Jan and his twin brother Abram were sons of hatmaker (cum schoolmaster, cum wine-dealer) Carstiaen Jansz. and Lijntgen Hendricks from Antwerp. He posted banns on 16 Juli 1626 with Annetje Pietersdr. Vallan (1605- burried 21 February 1658) (De Vries 1885; Jager 2016, p. 323 and 325-6, note 6); on 25 July 1627 they had a daughter Grietjen baptized in the Oude Kerk. (Jager 2016, p. 325, note 3), on 15 september 1641 Tryntgen in Zuiderkerk. His brother, Adriaen Micker, became a publisher (see Ecartico) and his brother Barend Micker (1615-1687) also was a painter.

    At the time of his marriage, he lived in the Korstjespoortsteeg in Amsterdam (Jager 2016, p. 32); in 1638 he lived on Keizersgracht ' op de Brabantsche Kamer' (Jager 2016, p. 323); later he lived at the Prinsengracht in 1653 opposite of the Noorderkerk, in the house ''t Wapen van Amsterdam' ; afterwards he lived at the Lindegracht at the time of his death next to the house ' De Vrede' (Wurfbain 1990 & Jager 2016, p. 324 and note 12)
