    studied in this period some time (not known exactly when and for how long) with Herman Saftleven in Utrecht. From 1648 still landscapes in Dutch Italianate style (M. de Kinkelder). In 1649, nine landscapes of Van Bemmel were raffled at Jan de Bondt in Wijk bij Duurstede (Obreen, vol. 2, p. 70-93). Probably these are by the older brother Jacob Gerritsz. van Bemmel. Willem had already left for Italy in 1647 (M. de Kinkelder).
