In 1924 he became doctor hon. causa at the Univ. v. Glasgow; he worked for Algemeen Handelsblad and Telegraaf; he was teacher at the Ambachtsavondschool in Tilburg, after that he became (1894) chief of the Burgeravondschool in Wageningen; in the years 1914-1918 he was very active as political cartoonist (Scheen 1981); in Wageningen he was teachter at the Tuin- en landbouwschool and the hbs; he wrote critics for 'Den gulden Wickel' (De Bodt/Kapelle 2003)
