    His parental home was on Voldersgracht (present day no. 25), and than in 1641 inn 'Mechelen' on Markt, northside. Recorded as master painter in the Guild of St. luke on 29 December 1653, paying 6 guilders as a citizen; dean ('hoofdman') in 1662, 1663, 1670, 1671. Vermeer suffered greatly from the French war and economic devastation of 1672; his last address in Delft was on Oude Langendijk, where his widow died in 1687 (Obreen 1877-1878)
