Qualifications
print artist, draftsperson, reproductive engraver
the brothers Johannes and Hieronymus made a great many engravings after famous artists (Dürer, Aldegrever, H.S. Beham, Schongauer, Raimondi, Lucas van Leyden etc.), often signed with their age (between 11 and 17), so that we should see them as tools in their training. There are reasons to suspect, that Hieronimus Cock (who edited several of these early works and owned the copper plates) set them up to do this: see Hollstein et al. 1949-2010, vol. 69 (2004), p. xv)

On 24 March 1580 he was pardoned (Rombouts/Van Lerius 1872/1961, vol. 1, p. 247, note 5). Like both his brothers, he was given to drinking to excess and throwing away all his money and leaving commissioned work unfinished (Hollstein et al. 1949-2010, vol. 69 (2004), p. xx).
