The first known signed work is of 1711 (Jacquot 1994, p. 37).

  • Parijs 1704 - 1733
Grimou married Gabrielle Petit in 29 May 1704 (Jacquot 1994, p. 8-9); at that time he lived at the Rue de Vaigirard, parroisse Saint-Sculpicec (Jacquot 1994, p. 15 and 37).
  • Amsterdam 1709
It has been assumed that Grimou (c. 1709?) visited the Netherlands to study Rembrandt at the source (Thieme/Becker 1922; Gerson 1942/1983); however, there is no proof of this (Jacquot 1994, p. 14, Saur 1992- (2009]).
