Family relationships
this field records any family relationship to one or more other artist(s).
Son of butcher Herbert Nason from Antwerp (1565 -c.1630) and Sara van Soom (1576-c.1630). Married in The Hague in 1639 to Maria van Manezee. Between 1640-1655 they had several children baptized in the Grote Kerk and the Kloosterkerk, of which only the eldest Sara (baptized 17 January 1640) and the youngest Maria (baptized 20 August 1655) ever married. His sister Maeike married in Amsterdam in 1634 the Augsburg silversmith Andries Grill (1604-1665): the couple moved 1636 to The Hague (Buijsen/Dumas et al. 1998).

In this field, you will find references to names of groups or to the artists that made/make up groups. You may also come across references to other artists if there was/is question of collaboration without a joint name. This is the case, for instance, with artists who rendered parts of works by other artists (such as with P.P Rubens and J. Brueghel I).

Buijsen/Dumas et al. 1998. A 1663 dated portrait of the 1st Earl of Shaftesbury (RKDimages 303318) seems to corroborate this visit to England. A second visit is suggested by a payment to a certain Mr. Nason in c. 1680 (Waterhouse 1988).
