Not signed; suggestions that it is not an autograph work but a studio work (as suggested by catalogue Rijksmuseum 1976), or finished by Hanneman or Peter Lely, are rejected in the essay by M. Tiethoff-Spliethoff in the exhibition catalogue 'Vorstelijk Vertoon', Haags Historisch Museum, The Hague 1997, p. 182; there it is seen as Van Dyck's last autograph work, for which he returned especially from Paris to London
