    De kop van voorgestelde gaat terug op het type Mauritsportret waarvan vele exemplaren werden geschilderd in het atelier van Van Mierevelt, en dat ook talloze malen in prent werd gebracht. De vroegste versies van dit type portret, waarvan kunstwerknummer 181571 er één is, zijn kniestukken die dateren van rond 1607. Een prototype is niet aan te wijzen.
