Current attribution
circle of Rembrandt
The attribution of this painting to Rembrandt was first doubted by Bauch (Bauch 1966, no. 201) and rejected by Gerson (Bredius/Gerson 1969, no. 258). Keyes suggested that the painting is an old copy after a lost original (Weller et al. 2011, p. 138). Nowadays the painting is presented as by the circle of Rembrandt (website museum, accessed 2017-06-06).

Exact or approximate dating of the described art work; the search parameters adopted for this art work in this database, are found in brackets.
1650 (1650)
Although date and signature are not authentic, a date of 1650 for the production of this painting seems plausible (see for instance: Weller et al. 2011, p. 138; website museum, accessed 2017-06-06).
