Amsterdam, Stadsarchief Amsterdam, inv./ [..]
Object information
Object category
paper, red chalk, black chalk, washed
rectangle (portrait format) 270 x 230 mm
Current attribution
Piet Mondriaan
This small drawing was acquired by R.C. Hekker with no greater assurance than that 'it was said to have been made by Mondrian'. However, in terms of subject matter and to some extent of style it relates closely enough to two other representations of wooden bridges over canals in the Vinkenbuurt district of Amsterdam (cat. nos. A183-184) that there can be no serious doubt of Mondrian's authorship (Welsh/joosten 1998).
