: On the beach, a Dutch skipper and a Spaniard are fighting over a golden stick, which they both hold on to with both hands. Among the spectators in the background is Prince Maurits of Orange (left). The quarrel symbolizes the conflict between the Dutch Republic and Spain concerning the power in the East- and West-Indies. The print was used in a pamphlet againt the peace negotiations for the Twelve Years' Truce (translation from website Rijksmuseum, 2015-11).
