The appearance and condition are very poor. The lining has detached from the stretcher along all edges. The canvas has tears, some patched on the back. The paint has suffered abrasion and paint losses, and there is heavy overpaint. The varnish is very discoloured and dark. Previous recorded treatment: 1952-53, with Dr Hell; 1990s, insecure canvas and paint surface stabilized for storage, S. Plender and N. Ryder (Sophia Plender).
