All paintings studied in this project are works in oil and canvas. Each of the painting was removed from its frame, and its condition was carefully examined before it was transported from The Metropolitan Museum of Art to Brookhaven National Laboratory. [...] The painting remained mounted on its stretcher during the entire process.
Location of neutron activation: Brookhaven National Laboratory. Average neutron flux at irradiation position: 1 x 10 10 neutrons/sec./cm.2Irradiation time: 90 minutesFluence: 5.4 x 10 13 neutrons/ cm.2Gamma ray dose rate: Approximately 200 millirads/sec.
