    According to the members of the RRP the Michailoff mentioned in the inscription is probably identical with Pavel Nikolaevič Michajlov. The engraving was used as an illustration in the catalogue of the 1846 auction (Corpus of Rembrandt Paintings 1982-, vol. 1 (1982), no. A 30).
