gouache naar schilderij van Rembrandt; 'Vincent de Lesseur (1745-1813), ein Miniaturmaler, kopierte 1795 Rembrandts Gemälde der Blendung Simsons (H.d.G. 33). Da das Gemälde seit 1746 der Wiener Sammlung Schönbrorn angehörte, muss es Lessseur bein seinem kurzen Aufenthalt in Wien, der vor 1781 liegen soll, bereits einmal kopiert oder nachgezeignet haben.' (Gerson 1942/1983, p. 507)

Het is echter aannemelijker dat De Lesseur zijn gouache maakt naar een reproductieprent; zowel in 1760 als in 1786 is het werk in Wenen in prent gebracht (kunstwerknrs. 118856 en 118858) (R. van Leeuwen, maart 2013).
