Jørgen Wadum and Petria Noble carry out extensive conservation treatment, removing and replacing the old varnish and retouchings. In the course of this treatment the painting was also subjected to extensive research (Noble 2008 e.a., p. 117). Before treatment, the painting was studied with infrared reflectography, with the Hamamatsu of the Mauritshuis. This study was not documented (Broos e.a. 2004, p. 335).
