Are you curious about an art work which you own? Would you like to know more about the artist, style or genre and the period during which it was made? Or perhaps you have a letter or archive of an artist which you would like to have assessed? The RKD offers the service of conducting art historical research.
Art historical research
Conducting art historical research starts with one hour of research and costs € 132 (excluding VAT). If further research is needed, the follow-up rate is € 66 (excluding VAT) per half hour. The results of the research are sent in the form of a digital report. The statements issued by the RKD on an art work are the result of art historical research by one or more staff members and cannot be regarded as expertise. The RKD does not carry out art appraisals, nor do we make statements about the value of art works. If you need an art appraisal, please contact an auction house, art dealer or art appraiser.
You can submit your request through our webshop. Attach a digital image (minimum resolution for images that you add to this application: 300 dpi or 1200 x 1700 pixels) to the application and include all available information (material, measurements, signature, provenance, etc.) Do you have any further questions? - Research Tickets Standard 10 Hours
€ 1.600 including VAT (€ 1.322,31 excluding VAT). - Research Tickets Intensive 20 Hours
€ 3.000 including VAT (€ 2.479,34 excluding VAT).
