Rondleiding

The RKD is: the number one research centre for the visual arts in the Netherlands, from the Middle Ages to the present; it has a study room with archives, visual documentation, a library and much more; it contains a wealth of information for museums, researchers and the public.

Get to know the RKD – Netherlands Institute for Art History!

The RKD invites groups to come and get to know the institute: to discover how the RKD's collections can help with your (art-historical) research and find what resources lie hidden in our reserves. The specialists of our research institute have got together a varied programme, for both generalists and specialists, arranged often around a specific topic.

Tours

It takes about 45 minutes to get a general impression of our institute. Following a brief introduction there is a walk around our study room, during which the various elements of the collection are explained. This is followed by an introduction to the various ways of searching the collections with particular attention to those resources which are being made available more and more in digital form.

Customisation

If requested, the RKD can give you information about specific types of (art-historical) research or specific elements of the collection. For example, provenance research, research using original documents, attributions, identification of sitters in portraits, as well as technical documentation. Get in touch if you would like to know more.
