The Dutch Art & Architecture Thesaurus (AAT-Ned) is a structured term list which is used as a standard for setting up architectural, art and cultural historical collections. The AAT-Ned is translated by the RKD from the multilingual Art & Architecture Thesaurus of the Getty Research Institute. The thesaurus is used nowadays by many heritage institutes for indexing their own collections. The ATT was also used in umbrella projects including MusIP, MovE and Europeana to provide multilingual information, as well as forming an important part of the semantic layer of the information.
The thesaurus facets provide description elements for cultural historical objects and the materials used amongst others. Furthermore, it is also suitable for subject indexation of libraries and images. A more detailed explanation on the use of the AAT-Ned can be found on the AAT website.
