He made 62 drawings for the engravings in Adam van Breens De Nassausche Wapen-Handelinge, van Schilt, Spies, Rappier ende Targe : beyde figuerlick afgebeelt, ende gestelt na de nieu ordening [van] ... Maurits van Nassau, 's-Gravenhage, [Aert Meuris] 1618, for which he was paid 100 guilders by the State General on 29 June 1617. In 1630-1631 he made 35 large paintings for the king's room in Kongsberg (Norway) that all but one were destroyed in a fire only one year later. He executed altar pieces for the Helig Trefoldighets kirke in Christiania (1630-1631) and for the church in Kongsberg, now in the church of Lyngdal in Numedal (based on a print by Magdalena de Passe). In Numedal it became the prototype for altars in many other churches (Reisegg 1982-1987/2013). From archival records it is known that he painted decorative work in Akershus Castle in 1636 and 1639-1640.

    Van Breen got married in The Hague in 1611 and became a member of the guild of The Hague in 1612; last mention there on December 16, 1617 (transfer of his engravings for the book 'De excertiën van de Garde van Zijn Excellentie' , to the printer Aert Meuris (Obreen vol. 2 (1879-1880), p. 10-11). According to De Kinkelder in Saur, his name still occurred until 1621 (Saur 1996).

    After mediation by Christopher Urne, Stadholder of Norway, Van Breen participated in the reconstruction of the city that was burned down in 1624 (Saur 1996); In 1630-1631 he executed a series of 35 big paintings for the 'king's room' in Kongsberg that all but one got destroyed by fire only a year later; from the same period dates an altar piece for the Hellig Trefoldighets kirke that also got lost by a fire. In 1633 he executed an altar piece with the Last Supper for the church in Kongsberg (now in Lyngdal kirke in Numedal), based on a print by Magdalena van de Passe. This painting was used as example by many local painters for altar pieces in the region. He is not mentioned in Norway after 1642 and possibly he left the country at the same time as his patron, Christopher Urne, who in 1642 returned to Denmark (Reisegg 1982-1986/2013).

In the church in Kongsberg, Norway is a study of a large chunk of silver ore, that in 1630 was found in a mine; it is signed and dated 1630; It is the only one of the 35 pieces that Van Breen made for the king's room in Kongsted that was not destroyed in a fire; Van Breen also painted portraits in Norway but little is known about his accomplishments in this field of painting (Reisegg 1982-1987/2013).
