In the art market vanitas still life paintings dated 1656, 1657 and 1664 have been signaled. A vanitas still life was auctioned at Christie's in Amsterdam on 10 November 1992. Several, at present unknown, floral still life paintings are recorded in his inventories (Willigen/Meijer 2003, p. 208); designed allegorical scenes for tapestries and ceiling paintings. Berkheyden referred to him as the "Rafael van uithangborden" (Wurzbach vol. 2 (1910), p. 794), (translation "Rafael of the sign boards"); Judith Leyster painted his portrait (Thieme/Becker vol. 34 (1940), p. 394)
