Uphagen bought works of art at the first and second auction Pott in Danzig, at the first auction of 12 May 1762 he acquired a painting of Spagnolettto (= Jusepe de Ribera) for 231 fl. And at the second auction of 24 November 1763 a painting of Rembrandt, but nowadays attributed to Jan Victors (see RKDimages 109015 and 187894)

youngest son of Wilhelm Heinrich Uphagen (1666-1705), merchant and shipowner from Danzig; father of Johann Uphagen (1731-1802), who bought in 1775 a citizen house in the Langgasse, the later Uphagenhuis; On April 25, 1730, Peter married Elisabeth, daughter of a Gdansk shipowner of Scottish origin, John Forret. The couple had three children: Johann Wilhelm (1731-1802), Karl Heinrich (1738-1804), owner Heiligenbrunn, and Renata Elżbieta (1741-1784).
