Curriculum vitae and duties

Ellis Dullaart (1985) graduated as an art historian from Utrecht University in 2007, with a thesis on the Leiden genre painter Quiringh Gerritsz. van Brekelenkam. Two years later she completed the Research Master Art History of the Low countries in European Context at the same university. During an internship at the Rijksmuseum she contributed to the second volume of the collection catalogue Dutch Paintings of the Seventeenth Century in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam (forthcoming). She also spent five months as an intern at the Staatliches Museum Schwerin.

Dullaart began working at the RKD as a post-graduate intern and was employed a year later as staff member Registration and Documentation at the department Old Netherlandish Painting. She was promoted to curator Dutch and Flemish Old Master Painting in 2013, with a focus on landscape- and genre painting from the seventeenth and early eighteenth century.

More recently, Ellis contributed to exhibition catalogues on Pieter de Hooch (Museum Prinsenhof Delft, 2019), Allart van Everdingen (Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar, 2021) and Aelbert Cuyp (Dordrechts Museum, 2021). Currently, she is project manager for the RKD Study Frans Hals and his workshop. Also, she is working on a collection catalogue of the Dutch and Flemish landscape paintings in the collection of the Szépmüvészeti Múzeum in Budapest, and she is preparing a large-scale inventory of the full collection of Dutch paintings of the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen.  Additionally, Ellis regularly hosts presentations and workshops at the RKD, such as the masterclass Recognize the Hand.
