    moved with his parents to Emden in 1571; bought citizenship there in 1593 and became member of the guild a short while later (Saur 1998). Married here in 1588.

    married in Amsterdam for the second time (banns posted on 21 August 1599: Starcke 1891, p. 134, note 2).

    visited Amsterdam more often between until 1603, when he moved to Amsterdam for a longer time (Starcke 1898, p. 134-135)

    moved to Amsterdam in 1603 with his family; mentioned there by Van Mander in 1604; 'poorter'(citizen) in 1605. From 1605 till 1617 he was mainly active as an art dealer (Saur 1998). Bought his 'poorterschap' (citizenship) on 2 June 1605; supported his uncle Jillis financially and mentally in these years, became legal guardian of his cousin Samuel and dealt with Jilles's estate after his death. Made his will in 1608. For his art dealership he visted auction, bought paintings and gave contemporary artists assignements (e.g. David Vinckboons); returned to Emden in May 1618(Briels 1997)
