Aelbert was baptized in the Augustijnenkerk. See External links. The listing occurred in the month of October 1620 (DTB 4, p. 12v; Veth 1884, p. 243; Veerman 1977, p. 18; Paarlberg et al. 2002, p. 202); he was no. 100 of the 114 children baptized that month, so that must have been in the end of October. provided the registrations in the Dordrecht baptism book are done in chronological order (with thanks to Marten Jan Bok, Harm Nijboer and Jaap van der Veen, 4/3/2020). Wrongly listed in Van der Willigen/Meijer 2003 as born on 20 October 1620.

Houbraken says that Cuyp painted, besides landscapes and calm waters with ships and horses, fruit still lifes as well; however, most fruit-still lifes with the monogram A.C. are attributed now rightly to Abraham van Calraet; Reiss has selected two cattle barns that might be painted by Cuyp (Van der Willigen/Meijer 2003, p. 69).
