Second son of Peeter van Bredael; married July 25, 1681 with Jeanne-Marie (baptized December 27, 1654), eldest daughter of Abraham van Diepenbeeck and anne van der Dort. Bredael paid money upon her death to the guild in the period 1689-90 (Rombouts/Van Lerius 1872/1961). Pieter Bredael and Pieter Ykens were witnesses at their wedding (Antwerp 1857/1863).

    In 1708 a riding-school was built connected with Rychnov castle by a coverd corridor. To decorate this corridor, 6 life-size (290 x 233 cm) and 72 small pictures with horses were ordered to Joris van Bredael. The large canvases, all dated 1708 and signed 'J. v. Bredael' or 'J.v.Bred.' are preserved and about half of the small ones are left.
