verzamelde vanaf 1913, na een bezoek aan de Armory Show in New York, met zijn echtgenote met name twintigste eeuwse Westerse kunst; het echtpaar was bevriend met kunstenaars, zo woonde Marcel Duchamp een tijd in hun huis en was hun huis een ontmoetingsplaats voor diverse kunstenaars; richtte in 1937 de Francis Bacon Foundation voor de promotie van onderzoek naar Francis Bacon op; in 1950 werd de Arensberg Collectie gedoneerd aan het Philadelphia Museum of Art (Philadelphia Museum of Art)
