When the painting was taken out of its frame, a small strip of about 2 cm on the right which was folded over and nailed to the stretcher was discovered. At restoration in 1938, the painting was restored to its original size (Münz 1947, p. 253, and plate IIA and IIB for images of the work before and after restoration).
