Collaborations
As a knowledge institution, the RKD promotes research into the visual arts of the Low Countries, by our own staff as well as by collaborating with others such as museums, cultural heritage institutions, universities and private organisations. In addition, the RKD’s collection and expertise is widely used by auction houses, galleries, art dealers, independent scholars, professional art historians, collectors and members of the public looking for art historical information.
ABOUT THE RKD
Public function
Besides its collecting and research role, the RKD serves a public function. The analogue collection can be consulted in the study room at the RKD and part of it is available online. The RKD shares and distributes the knowledge it holds by contributing to exhibitions and publications and through organising symposia, lectures and other events. These activities are publicised through our website, newsletters, press releases and social media.
