Request an archive
You can consult the archives in the RKD collection in the study room in The Hague. In order to study archival documentation you must write to archieven@rkd.nl two days in advance of your visit. It is not possible to request archival documentation on site. Please request documents from Special Collections seven days in advance.
Search the archives
An overview of all archives can be found in RKD Research under RKDarchives. Here you will also find a link to the archive's inventory list (if available).
Archives held by the RKD are in principle ‘open’ and available for public access but in some cases access to records is restricted. More information about possible restrictions on access to archival documents can be found here. A number of archives have been digitised and these may only be viewed online.
Certain conditions must be met for you to have access to archival documentation. In some cases you will need to fill out a form before you can consult the material at the RKD. There are also rules that must be observed when consulting and photographing archives. We will send these rules once we have received your request.
