The artists documentation collection contains a variety of information sources: cuttings from Dutch -and a smaller proportion from foreign - daily and weekly magazines, invitations, press releases and flyers from museum exhibitions, art dealers and galleries, and small brochures.
The majority is related to 20th century art. The collection’s information value is attributed to the diversity of the material. Information from these documents is difficult or impossible to retrieve from other sources. The internal correlation (various material on one particular artist or subject bundled together) promotes the usability of this information for varying kinds of research: such as art criticism, reception history, research into origin, and exhibition history.
